Tilberthwaite

The beautiful Tilberthwaite valley makes a very enjoyable walk from Coniston. The walk can be even better if you have the time and energy to extend it into the next valley of Little Langdale. There are several options for both the outward ourney and the return. on this occassion we walked up to High Tilberthwaite farm, took the higher path over the fell to Hall Garth and Little Langdale Tarn and returned through Moss Rigg Wood, back to Tilberthwaite.

The single track road that leads up to Tilberthwaite.

The Lake District Herdwick is one of the most curious sheep, with very friendly faces.

The gorse seems to flower all the year round.

Winding down towards Hall Garth on the Little Langdale side of the hill.

Slater's Bridge, made by men who lived in Langdale, but worked in the quarries on the other side of the beck.

The small hamlet of Tilberthwaite. This image was taken around mid day, but already has an evening feel to it due to the low angle of the sun at this time of year.
