Today we went to the Rusland Valley. We lived there for ten years and really got to know and love the area. Although it's part of the Lake District National Park, it is quiet, almost undiscovered by tourism. It doesn't have a lake and it doesn't have the large mountains of some of the other valleys, but it is a valley where the community is still paramount, a working community of farmers and foresters. A beautiful valley and a beautiful place to live.
We parked at Oxen Park, the sign tells you the rest.
The beautiful rural expanse of the Rusland Valley.
Rusland Church, the final resting place of the writer Arthur Ransome.
This was a Sycamore tree that we saw in the woods near the village of Bouth.
Signs of Spring
Wild Daffodils
Lesser Celandine growing on the grassy bankings in sunny positions.
Even the Dandelions are coming out!
A true sign of springtime.
