A New Tarn!

We parked at Shepherd's Bridge in the Yewdale valley, two miles out of the village. We chose not to walk from home as the weather didn't look as though it would last long enough for us to stay dry. Walking around the back of Yewtree Farm and up Tom Ghyll, we were soon at Tarn Hows. There was a lot more people around today, not sure if that was because it's been a good week, or has the summer season started already? The plan was to follow the Cumbria Way to Colwith and then through to Oxen Fell, returning via Hodge Close.
That was the plan, but by the time we got to High Arnside Tarn the weather was closing in and looking pretty damp all around. So we diverted to have a close up look at the tarn, we've never done that before, then we retraced our steps back to the car.

A damp morning.

High Arnside Tarn. Not the brightest of days, but some nice subtle tones.

Sometimes trees appear to grow in the strangest of places!

We met this chap on the path round the back of Yewtree Farm

He seemed pretty sure that the track was his.

He certainly didn't think we should be there.
