More around Ennerdale
Just a bit more to add to my blog from Friday's walk around Ennerdale. This posting is more about the flowers, which were fabulous in the warm sunshine.
The path meanders along this lane around the south western end of the lake.
Just outside the car park we came across this Ragged Robin, not exactly a rare plant, but not that common either.
In the wet areas at the end of the lake there were the remains of a good population of Heath Spotted Orchids. Some of them still in good condition and quite big plants too, some standing about knee height.
Hare Bells were growing along the edge of the path, in the fields and around the trees.
There are frequent and well placed seats along the side of the lake that is managed by United Utilities.
Another plant that ikes damp ground is Wild Mint.
Marsh Wound Wort, as the name suggests, also likes the margins along the lake.
Rosebay Willowherb frequntly adds a flash of colour along the way.
Summer flowers abound along the well drained banks.
Ragwort, posing for a photo infront of an amazing backdrop.
Purple Loostrife is quite rare, but not difficult to find around the gravelly ground on many of our lake shores.
